“in the haunted woods” is the new 3rd album from The Agency…
It took a little longer, five years, to record “In the Haunted Woods”, but it is their best material to date. The dystopian electric soundscapes listeners are familiar with are painted even more vividly by the ensemble of players on this record. Now Ben Anderson has joined the band on guitar/percussion, while Scott Wall plays keys on his third “The Agency…” album. Cousin Dan and Carly McKeith add their voices throughout the record while Andy Turnbull (Monkey Junk Blues Club) weaves guitar across several tunes. Several drummers and percussionists have taken up the drum stool including Andy Carr and Hank Hays. The result is a sonic kaleidoscope with instruments including Bouzouki, Mellotron and Sitar adding rich texture to tales of misanthropy and existential confusion.
Listeners describe the sound of the Agency… as rich and multi-layered with influences including Dylan, Pink Floyd, the Felice Brothers, Mark Lanegan, King Crimson, the National, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, William Shatner, the Velvet Underground and the Wizard of Oz. With literary and media influences as diverse as their electric soundscapes, there is a little bit of something for everyone that fortune sits at The Agency….’s table.

Then there is the re-mix album!
Malcolm Jackson A.K.A. Spermy the Spaceman, who played synths and assisted in the production of “in the haunted woods” for The Agency…, has produced an album of Electronica re-mixes of the album as a complementary release. The treatments are very different to the originals, but illustrate the ideas of the songs in the haunted woods, evoking new soundscapes for listeners of electronic and dance music. We hope you enjoy these tracks:

‘Of Ghosts’ is the second album from The Agency…, following their highly applauded 2012 debut, ‘For the Brave and Troubled’. The opening track, ‘She’, was single of the month in Crack Magazine and ‘Child So Careless’ also helped win the band a wider audience. ‘Fast’ is about the corruption of good politicians, and tracks such as ‘For the Daughter’ and ‘Border Song’ show the gentler side of The Agency…, with heartfelt tales of political imprisonment and criminal fraternity; great examples of how theyhave carved out their own unique way of marrying cinematic storytelling with striking musical soundscapes. There are some surprises too, most notably the stripped back ‘Jack and Spade’. A hidden bonus track celebrates the gothic theme running throughout ‘Of Ghosts’ in all its magical glory.
